A critical percentage figure within MT5 accounts is the Margin Level. Many users grow confused watching this value fall, unsure what it signifies or at which threshold platform intervention occurs. Liquidation thresholds vary, as each platform sets its own trading-rule standards.

1. What Does Margin Level Primarily Indicate?
Simply put, it shows the ratio between your account equity and funds currently tied up in open positions.
As market prices for held positions fluctuate, account equity shifts accordingly, causing this percentage to rise and fall.
Margin Level can therefore change with market movements even when traded lot sizes remain unchanged.
2. Regular-Session Threshold on Lucky Gold
For London Gold and London Silver under normal trading sessions on Lucky Gold: Forced liquidation triggers when Margin Level falls to 30 % or below.
Note that 30 % does not mean your order has sustained a 30 % loss. It refers exclusively to the Margin-Level reading hitting the platform intervention threshold. These two concepts must not be confused.
3. Why Forced Liquidation May Occur Even With Positive Account Balance
Platform risk rules do not rely on account balance alone.
Once you hold open positions, price swings alter both equity and Margin Level in real time. Account balance alone cannot give a full picture of your account health.
When using MT5, monitor account equity together with Margin Level, instead of troubleshooting only after drastic numerical shifts appear.
4. How Trading Lot Size Affects Margin Level
Larger lot sizes increase the amount of capital locked by open trades.
On Lucky Gold, the margin requirement is USD 1000 per lot for London Gold and USD 650 per lot for London Silver; the minimum tradable size is 0.01 lot.
Accordingly, account metrics will differ greatly for 0.01-lot versus multi-lot positions within the same account. Always observe overall account conditions when deciding position size.
5. What Happens to Margin Level After Partial Position Closure
Partial closure reduces open volume, and margin-usage figures are recalculated accordingly in MT5. MT5 supports partial position liquidation for specified lot quantities.
You may check historical records to verify the timestamp and volume of partial closes, then observe subsequent shifts in account metrics.
6. Why You Cannot Rely Solely on the 30 % Threshold
Lucky Gold applies different Margin-Level rules over weekends.
While 30 % or below triggers liquidation during regular sessions, the weekend threshold is set at 200 % or below.
If you keep positions open going into Friday, familiarise yourself with weekend risk parameters rather than applying the weekday 30 % rule.
